What’s the Christmas gift worth giving to your employees this festive season?

It’s that time of year again. The office decorations are out, the mince pies have arrived on our desks and the countdown to Christmas has begun. But how can we show that extra bit of appreciation to our employees over the festive season?

There are many reasons why rewarding your employees can benefit your organisation. From boosting motivation, increasing engagement and improving productivity. And with this in mind, a recent survey conducted by Instantprint found that 94% of employees wanted to receive a gift from their employers this Christmas in order to feel valued, appreciated and happy.  But with so many ideas out there to choose from, how can you make sure you achieve just that?

The Instantprint survey of 1,500 office-based UK employees found that:

  • 29% of respondents would like a gift voucher as their Christmas present;
  • A further 29% would appreciate an early finish;
  • 20% would like a free bar at the Christmas party;
  • 10% want a physical gift; and
  • 7% would like a charitable donation made in their name.

Although the types of Christmas gifts may have changed over the years, the results show that most employees would still like something this Christmas. However, showing your appreciation can be as simple as an early finish or a couple of drinks at the Christmas party.

No matter how big or small, Christmas is the season of giving and its clear employees feel a gift of gratitude is important, but don’t forget that it’s as important to ensure your employees feel worthwhile and you recognise their contribution to the business throughout the year and not just over the holiday season.
